Step-by-step: download invoices from Twilio SendGrid
- 1
Open Billing in the SendGrid app
Sign in at app.sendgrid.com, then go to Settings → Account Details → Billing, or open the direct URL at app.sendgrid.com/account/billing. Account-level admins can see billing; restricted teammates cannot.
- 2
Go to Invoices in the billing section
Inside Billing, find the Invoices tab. You will see a table of issued invoices with their dates, amounts, and statuses. Use the date filter to narrow down the period you need.
- 3
Download each invoice as PDF
Click the invoice number or the download icon on the row to open and save the PDF. SendGrid issues one invoice per billing cycle, plus separate invoices for add-on purchases and overage charges.
- 4
File each PDF by billing period
Use a naming pattern like date plus SendGrid plus amount so files sort chronologically. Keep them next to your other transactional email and communication tool invoices for cleaner reconciliation at month-end.
About Twilio SendGrid billing
SendGrid reliably delivers your transactional and marketing emails. Invoices, on the other hand, require you to come find them yourself.
If you have been on SendGrid since before the Twilio acquisition, your billing setup may straddle two different systems. New accounts go through Twilio's unified billing; older accounts stay in the SendGrid app. Either way, the PDFs live somewhere specific and you have to click through to get them.
Twilio acquired SendGrid in 2019. Depending on when your account was created and whether it has been migrated, your invoices live in either the SendGrid app at app.sendgrid.com/account/billing or the Twilio Console. If one location is empty, check the other before filing a support ticket.
About Twilio SendGrid
SendGrid, founded in 2009 and acquired by Twilio in 2019, is a transactional and marketing email delivery platform. It handles notification emails, password resets, newsletters, and marketing campaigns through its SMTP relay and Web API. Billing happens at the account level, with plans ranging from free (limited sending) to enterprise tiers with dedicated IPs and custom volume. The unified Twilio billing model is gradually absorbing SendGrid, so some accounts still use sendgrid.com billing while newer or migrated accounts use the Twilio Console.
Manual vs automated
Manual
- Sign in to SendGrid
- Open Settings → Account Details → Billing
- Go to the Invoices tab
- Filter by date
- Download each PDF individually
- Rename and file by month
Automated with Inbox Ledger
- Connect SendGrid once in Inbox Ledger
- New invoices appear in your dashboard automatically
- Export to Drive, Sheets, or your accounting system
Why people stop doing this by hand
One SendGrid subscription with no overages is a simple monthly invoice, easy to grab by hand. Teams running high-volume sending, multiple domains, or combined Twilio and SendGrid billing quickly find the monthly routine takes longer than expected.
Overage line items, add-on purchases for dedicated IPs, and the occasional migration between SendGrid-app and Twilio-Console billing add variance that makes reconciliation finicky. The SendGrid API does not give you invoice PDFs directly, so DIY scripts hit a wall. Automating the whole pipeline tends to pay off after about six months for any team with more than one product account.
Next step
If you have a single SendGrid subscription with predictable usage, manual download works fine. If your monthly invoices have overage charges, add-ons, or Twilio migration quirks, connect SendGrid to Inbox Ledger and stop hunting for PDFs every month.
Quick access
Jump straight to the Twilio SendGrid billing page in a new tab.
Open Twilio SendGrid billingWhere to look in the dashboard
- Settings → Account Details → Billing is the main billing hub
- Settings → Account Details → Company Profile is where your legal entity name and tax ID are stored

- Twilio Console also shows SendGrid usage if your account is linked
Before you start — quick checklist
- Your legal entity name and billing address match what is on record
- Tax ID or VAT number is printed if required in your country
- Amount matches what SendGrid charged your payment method
- The invoice covers the correct subscription period plus any overage charges
- The document is a finalized invoice, not a usage summary or preview
Pro tips
- Twilio acquired SendGrid in 2019. Invoices may reference Twilio Inc. as the billing entity while the product name remains SendGrid.
- Overage charges (for emails above your plan's included volume) appear as separate line items on the invoice. Review the itemization before reconciling against your Twilio Marketing spend.
- Your VAT ID must be in Account Details before the invoice is issued. Retroactive edits to past invoices are not supported.
- If you have separate SendGrid accounts for marketing and transactional email, each account has its own billing history.
- The Billing URL occasionally changes as SendGrid integrates deeper with Twilio's console. If the direct link 404s, navigate via Settings → Account Details.
