Step-by-step: download invoices from Sentry

  1. 1

    Open the organization Settings

Sign in at sentry.io and click Settings in the left sidebar. Make sure you are in the correct organization using the org switcher at the top. Billing is per-organization, not per-project.

  2. 2

    Go to Billing → Receipts

In Settings, select Billing, then the Receipts tab. The direct URL is sentry.io/settings/billing/receipts/. You need the Owner or Billing role. Regular members cannot see this page.

  3. 3

    Pick the date range

The Receipts table lists all past charges with date, amount, and download link. Use the filter at the top to narrow by period if your history is long. On-demand usage is shown as separate rows when it triggers an overage charge.

  4. 4

    Download the PDF receipt

Click Download on any row. Sentry calls them receipts rather than invoices, but the document includes your org name, receipt number, and tax breakdown, so it functions as a tax invoice in most jurisdictions.

About Sentry billing

Sentry is fast to set up and catches the errors you do not want to catch yourself. Its billing page is also fast, as long as you know where to find it and your role includes billing access.

Sentry uses the word "receipts" rather than "invoices," which confuses new finance teams. The document itself is a tax invoice in everything but name.

Sentry on-demand overages are where most billing surprises come from. A spike in errors or a forgotten performance transaction flood can easily double your monthly bill. Check Settings → Usage → Current Usage alongside Receipts to see where the extra charges came from.

About Sentry

Sentry (Functional Software Inc.) is an application performance and error monitoring platform founded in 2008 by David Cramer and Chris Jennings. Based in San Francisco, it offers Developer, Team, Business, and Enterprise plans. Billing is subscription plus on-demand overage, where exceeding your monthly event quota triggers pay-as-you-go charges. All products (Error Monitoring, Performance, Session Replay, Profiling, Cron Monitoring) are billed under one organization subscription.

Manual vs automated

Manual

  • Sign in with Owner or Billing role
  • Open Settings → Billing → Receipts
  • Download each PDF receipt one at a time
  • Match on-demand charges against usage
  • File receipts by period

Automated with Inbox Ledger

  • Point Sentry billing email at Inbox Ledger once
  • New receipts land in your dashboard with product line items parsed
  • Export to Drive, Sheets, or your accounting system

Why people stop doing this by hand

Sentry receipts are straightforward to download individually. The problem for most engineering-led teams is that the person who set up Sentry is not the person who does the monthly finance close. The billing email goes to one engineer's inbox and the finance team hunts for it.

On-demand overages make matchback harder. When your bill jumps from the base plan to a noticeable amount higher, finance wants to understand why, and the answer sits behind the Usage tab rather than the receipt itself. Automating the forward means at least the documents are in the right place while the investigation happens.

Role permissions are the other quiet issue. Sentry keeps billing access tight, which is good for security and inconvenient for finance. Promoting an accountant to a billing role for every vendor is how unused admin accounts pile up, so teams either grit their teeth and do it or forward invoice emails to a central mailbox.

Next step

If you run one Sentry org with predictable usage, the manual flow is fine. If you have variable on-demand charges, multiple orgs, or engineers who forget that finance exists, connect Sentry to Inbox Ledger once and let new receipts land automatically.

Where to look in the dashboard

  • sentry.io/settings/billing/receipts/ is the direct URL
  • Settings → Billing → Receipts, but only visible to Owner or Billing role
  • On-demand overages appear on the next receipt as separate line items
  • Enterprise invoices come from accounts@sentry.io by email

Before you start — quick checklist

  • The receipt number is at the top of the PDF
  • Your organization slug matches the legal entity you expect to bill
  • Subscription and on-demand overages are itemized
  • Tax is broken out if you added a VAT or GST number
  • The PDF is a proper file download, not just a browser view

Pro tips

  • Sentry bills for the base plan plus any on-demand overages in the same receipt. Check the line items to see which is which.
  • Sentry runs on a tiered error quota. When you blow through it, on-demand charges kick in. These appear on the next receipt, not as a separate one.
  • Enterprise customers receive invoices by email from their Sentry account manager, not through the self-serve Receipts tab.
  • The "Update billing info" link lets you add a tax ID. Past receipts are locked once finalized.
  • If your org consolidates multiple products (Error Monitoring, Performance, Session Replay, Profiling), all of them appear on the same receipt.
