Step-by-step: download invoices from Wise

  1. 1

Sign in to Wise and open Statements

Go to wise.com and sign in to your personal or business account. Click your profile in the top-right, then Statements. The direct URL is wise.com/statements. If you have both a personal Wise account and a Wise Business account, switch to the right one using the account switcher first.

  2. 2

    Pick the currency balance

Wise keeps a separate balance for each currency (USD, EUR, GBP, and dozens more). Each balance has its own statement. Pick the balance you need from the list. For consolidated records across currencies, you need to download one statement per currency and stitch them together.

  3. 3

    Set the date range

Use the date picker to set start and end dates. Wise offers weekly, monthly, quarterly, and custom ranges. For accounting, most teams use monthly statements aligned to the calendar month.

  4. 4

    Download the PDF and CSV

Wise offers both formats. The PDF is a formatted statement suitable for submitting to accountants or banks. The CSV has transaction-level detail for reconciliation. Download both. For individual transfer receipts, click a transaction row and use the Get proof of payment link.

  5. 5

    File by currency and period

Name each file with currency code, period, and account type (personal or business). Wise files are essential for any business operating across currencies, and a clear naming convention saves hours during audit prep.

About Wise billing

Wise is great at cross-border money. The paperwork side is fine if you know where to look, and painful if you do not.

The main catch: each currency balance is its own statement. If you hold USD, EUR, and GBP, you are downloading three statements per month, not one. Multiply by however many accounts and entities you run, and your monthly close takes a bit longer than you want.

Wise issues a separate statement for each currency balance. A business holding EUR, GBP, and USD balances needs three separate monthly statements for full coverage. There is no single multi-currency statement option in the current UI, so plan your filing structure accordingly.

About Wise

Wise (formerly TransferWise) was founded in 2011 by Taavet Hinrikus and Kristo Kaarmann. Headquartered in London, it specializes in international money transfer and multi-currency accounts, serving both individuals and businesses. Wise Business adds team access, accounting integrations, batch payments, and better reporting. Statements are issued per currency balance rather than as a single consolidated document, and fees are itemized on every transfer rather than billed separately.

Manual vs automated

Manual

  • Sign in to Wise
  • Open Statements
  • Pick each currency balance individually
  • Set the date range for every statement
  • Download PDF and CSV per balance
  • Pull proof of payment for specific transfers

Automated with Inbox Ledger

  • Connect Wise once in Inbox Ledger
  • Statements and transfer receipts arrive in your dashboard
  • Export to Drive, Sheets, or your accounting system

Why people stop doing this by hand

Any business running multiple currencies through Wise hits the same pain. Three balances means three statements. Five means five. At month-end, finance teams are pulling documents in batches, stitching them together, and matching against their accounting system one currency at a time.

Wise does have a solid API and accounting integrations for Xero and QuickBooks, which help. For everyone not on those specific platforms, the monthly statement dance is still manual.

Proof of payment PDFs add another layer. Suppliers and tax authorities often ask for proof that a specific transfer actually went through, which is a different document than the account statement. Generating one per transfer is not hard, but tracking which supplier received which proof is the sort of thing spreadsheets are built for until you outgrow them.

Next step

If you hold one Wise balance and make a transfer every few months, manual works. If you run a cross-border business with multiple currencies, connect Wise to Inbox Ledger and let the statements come in automatically.

Where to look in the dashboard

  • Profile → Statements is where account statements live
  • Activity → click a transaction → Get proof of payment for individual transfer receipts
  • Profile → Documents holds tax forms and compliance documents
  • Business Dashboard has consolidated reporting if you have a Wise Business account with team access

Before you start — quick checklist

  • Statements for every currency balance you hold are downloaded
  • The period on the PDF matches the accounting period you are reconciling
  • Transfer fees are itemized on the PDF, not just netted against the amount
  • Exchange rates and conversion details are visible for cross-currency moves
  • Proof of payment PDFs are saved for specific transactions that need support

Pro tips

  • Wise Business accounts have better document tools than personal. Upgrade if you use Wise for business.
  • Each currency balance is treated as a separate account. You need one statement per currency for full picture, not one master statement.
  • Proof of payment PDFs (per-transfer receipts) are different from statements and are required by some banks and suppliers to confirm a specific payment was made.
  • Wise also issues annual tax documents for applicable regions. Check the Tax Documents section if you are in the US, UK, or other supported markets.
  • Multi-user Wise Business accounts include all user activity on the statement, but only admins can download. Members see their own transfers only.
